Description
We are seeking a hands-on and proactive Shift Supervisor to lead daily plant operations at our Vegetable Oil Extraction Plant in Bonje, Kwale County. The role will be responsible for managing shift-based production activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and continuous improvement while optimizing team performance and plant resources.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a Degree in Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have 5 years of hands-on experience as a production supervisor in a production set up, preferably in a vegetable oil extraction plant, milling, mining or cement.
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency: experience with production or MRP systems is an added advantage.
  • Training in firefighting and basic HSE procedures (preferred).
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO, TQM, and familiarity with lean manufacturing tools.
  • Demonstrated experience leading operational teams and driving performance improvement.



  • Plan and supervise day-to-day shift operations to meet production, quality, and efficiency targets.
  • Organize shift staffing schedules, considering team availability, leave, and operational requirements.
  • Supervise raw and packaging material preparation, ensuring availability and resolving inventory anomalies.
  • Oversee product batching in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, GMP, and quality standards during all shift activities.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing PPE use and reporting near misses, incidents, or hazards on time.
  • Generate work orders and conduct product costing as per company guidelines.
  • Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and initiate timely corrective actions.
  • Report breakdowns, equipment malfunctions, or downtimes to the Production Superintendent for follow-up.
  • Collaborate closely with the maintenance, quality assurance, and safety teams to drive shift performance.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and hygiene standards are maintained in the production area.
  • Coach and guide team members to enhance productivity, safety compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement aligned with Kaizen, Lean, and Six Sigma principles.
  • Ensure proper implementation of company policies and adherence to ISO and TQM standards.
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and shutdown procedures as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Production Superintendent.
