Technician II

Job Description

An officer at this level shall:

• Provide technical support and assistance to faculty, researchers, and students in laboratory settings;
  
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment and instrumentation according to established protocols and safety guidelines;
  
• Manage inventory and supplies, including ordering, receiving, and organizing materials necessary for laboratory activities;
  
• Assist in the development of laboratory manuals, instructional materials, and safety procedures for academic courses and research projects;
  
• Troubleshoot technical issues and perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance;
  
• Ensure proper arrangements of workshops/laboratory;
  
• Assist in carrying out various laboratory/workshop including field activities; and
  
• Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
  

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, one must have:

• Higher National Diploma in relevant discipline or its equivalent from a recognized Institution with at least three (3) years relevant post qualification laboratory working experience,
  

OR,

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline or its equivalent from a recognized Institution; and
  
• Computer literacy.
