Required Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications, Experience and skills:

  • Master’s degree in development management, business administration, organizational strategy, international relations, gender studies or another related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in partnerships, private sector engagement and/or business intelligence is required.
  • Experience in policy, programming or advocacy in gender equality and women empowerment is required.
  • Experience in monitoring, reporting, data collection, evaluation and/or knowledge production is an asset.
  • Familiarity with UN Women’s private sector engagement is an asset.
  • Excellent research & analysis skills with experience synthesizing and summarizing large amounts of results data is an asset.
  • Experience producing results reports and/or communications and advocacy materials an asset.
  • Strong IT literacy in standard applications is mandatory (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,etc) required.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills required.

Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.

Deliverable 1: Support a rapid desk review of results achieved by UN Women through engagement with the private sector.

Activities (15 May – end June):

  • Identification of sources of knowledge and results on engagement with the private sector (e.g. UN Women HQ, Regional and Country Office results reports on the Results Management System, Due Diligence database etc.).
  • Rapid desk review of available sources of results to extract results achieved over the last five years (2019-2023) by outcome and output area of the PSES.
  • Identification of case stories and examples that illustrate results achieved.
  • Draft an outline of the results report to be developed from the rapid review, including snapshot of results that can be shared internally and externally.
  • Share the outline and findings from the above with key UN Women HQ, RO and CO teams for feedback, quality assurance and validation and incorporate any feedback.


Deliverable 2: Support the production of a results report on UN Women’s private sector engagement.

Activities (1 July – end August):


  • Based on the above, support the drafting of a results report from the rapid review on the results and lessons learned from UN Women’s private sector engagement over five years.
  • Include case stories and examples from key UN Women HQ, RO and CO initiatives that can be used in results reporting as well as communications and advocacy materials.
  • Consult with other UN Women HQ, RO, CO teams to validate and quality assure the draft results report and address comments and feedback from teams consulted on the draft report.
  • Contribute to presentations on the results report for senior management as requested.


Deliverable 3. Support the development of indicators and baseline assessment to measure the PSES.

Activities (15 May – 14 November)

  • Provide support to the PSE Knowledge Management Adviser (consultant) on the development of a Results Framework for the PSES
  • Support the identification of key indicators to measure progress towards the PSES, including through the desk review noted above.
  • Support the development of a baseline for the RF, collecting baseline data, including through the results identified in the reporting produced under output 2.
  • Contribute to the development of a results monitoring approach for the PSES to ensure results reporting can be continued annually.


Delliverable 4. Support other work in relation to PSP Section results monitoring, reporting and other knowledge products as needed.
