Job Overview

We are looking for a YouTube Content Strategist & Scriptwriter to shape persuasive, high-performing video content that supports our marketing goals, strengthens our brand, and helps us communicate complex ideas clearly.

This role is responsible for turning a wide range of source material — including blogs, technical input, voice notes, internal knowledge, and existing content — into strong YouTube narratives and scripts that are engaging, commercially effective, and aligned with our messaging.

This is not a basic scriptwriting role. We need someone who can identify the right angle, simplify complexity, understand what matters to the audience, and write scripts that are both informative and persuasive. You will help us create YouTube content that builds trust, holds attention, and drives the viewer toward a clear takeaway or action.

You will work closely with subject matter experts, content leads, video editors, and the wider marketing team to ensure our YouTube content is strategically sound, easy to produce, and consistent in how it represents our brand.

Responsibilities

Key ResponsibilitiesContent Strategy & Narrative Development

  • Develop clear, compelling YouTube content angles from blogs, technical information, voice notes, internal briefs, and other source materials

  • Identify the strongest message, hook, and narrative structure for each video

  • Reshape written or technical content into video-first concepts rather than simply repurposing blog copy

  • Distil large amounts of information into a simple, logical, audience-friendly narrative

  • Ensure every video has a clear purpose, strong point of view, and an intentional audience outcome

Scriptwriting

  • Write persuasive, high-quality YouTube scripts for marketing, educational, explainer, and thought leadership content

  • Create scripts that are structured for attention, retention, clarity, and conversion

  • Write strong openings and hooks that capture interest quickly

  • Translate complex or technical topics into accessible, engaging spoken content

  • Remove unnecessary SEO language, FAQ sections, repetition, and blog-specific structures that do not work for video

  • Write with spoken delivery in mind, ensuring scripts sound natural, credible, and engaging on screen

  • Adapt tone and structure depending on audience, platform intent, and campaign objective

Persuasive Marketing Content

  • Write with a clear understanding of audience psychology, engagement, and persuasion

  • Balance education, authority, trust-building, and commercial intent within video content

  • Shape scripts that guide viewers toward a specific takeaway, next step, or call to action

  • Support marketing goals through messaging that is strategically strong and commercially effective

  • Create content that helps position the business clearly and consistently in the market

Messaging & Brand Alignment

  • Ensure all scripts align with our brand voice, messaging, positioning, and wider content strategy

  • Maintain consistency in how we describe key topics, services, and concepts across YouTube content

  • Work from multiple inputs and viewpoints to create one coherent, on-brand story

  • Help turn technical expertise into messaging that is clear, persuasive, and audience-relevant

Collaboration


  • Work closely with content, technical, editorial, and video teams to develop scripts that are strategically strong and production-ready

  • Gather and interpret input from subject matter experts and internal stakeholders

  • Provide video editors with clear script context, including the purpose of the video, intended audience, and desired takeaway

  • Collaborate with the wider team to strengthen video ideas, improve message clarity, and refine script quality

Process & Quality Support

  • Ensure scripts are built from approved and relevant source material

  • Flag unclear, inconsistent, or weak input before it moves into production

  • Support stronger content workflows through structured briefs, script notes, and rationale where needed

  • Contribute to improving script templates, briefing standards, and content development processes over time

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in content strategy, marketing copywriting, scriptwriting, editorial, journalism, brand content, or YouTube content development

  • Strong ability to write persuasively and shape messaging that influences, engages, and converts

  • Experience writing scripts or marketing content designed to hold attention and drive action

  • Excellent storytelling skills, with the ability to find the strongest angle within complex or detailed material

  • Strong understanding of how to structure content for YouTube or video-first platforms

  • Ability to simplify technical, detailed, or multi-source information into a clear and compelling narrative

  • Strong understanding of brand messaging and how to apply it consistently across content

  • High level of editorial judgment and the ability to identify what to cut, what to keep, and what to emphasise

  • Confident working with subject matter experts, internal stakeholders, and creative teams

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to clarity, consistency, and quality
