Description
  • Hold a Master's degree in Law or equivalent obtained from a recognized University.
  • Demonstrate 10 years of experience in progressively higher-level positions of responsibility in the field of administrative law or related fields, including 2 years of relevant international experience and 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • To have knowledge of the rules and regulations, policies, procedures and operations of ECOWAS.
  • Having proven professional competence and mastery of administrative law and judicial procedures, ability to revise and edit the work of others and to manage the operation of a department and its staff.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct in-depth legal research on a wide range of topics, develop interpersonal, negotiation, networking and presentation skills with proven ability to influence, explain complex data, demonstrate empathy and open-mindedness.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, monitor and coordinate the activities of the Division's sections and units under the authority of the Deputy Chief Clerk.
  • Perform case management functions under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Clerk.
  • To be responsible for preparing the hearing schedule in accordance with the instructions of the Judges, the Chief Clerk and the Deputy Chief Clerk.
  • Supervise the verification of new requests, the receipt, processing, transmission and service of all requests filed with the registry.
  • Supervise the service of all procedural documents to judges, parties, lawyers, and their transmission to translators and the Research Division, and ensure the translation of procedural documents.
  • Prepare for hearings in accordance with protocols, rules, instructions to the Chief Clerk and practical instructions under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Clerk.
  • Record a summary of the proceedings in the register during the hearings and prepare the minutes of the proceedings.
  • To assist and represent, if necessary, the Chief Clerk during hearings.
  • To assist the Chief Clerk and his deputy in the performance of their duties.
  • Perform any other related tasks that may be assigned by the Reporting Judge, the Chief Clerk or the Deputy Chief Clerk.
