Logistics Officer

Position Overview

Action Against Hunger (ACF Nigeria) Ltd/Gte is recruiting a Logistics Officer based in Sokoto to provide logistics support to programmes and oversee day-to-day logistics activities. The role reports to the Logistics and Supply Chain Manager with a proposed start date of October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Mission 1: Provide logistics support to the base programs

• Support requesters in the development of purchase requests and stock release orders
• Provide technical support to Programme Managers (PMs) in the development of terms of reference
• Prepare and supervise construction/rehabilitation work in the field
• Monitor requests with the supply team
• Support programs during distributions
• Supervise the production of kits
• Support programs in their various technical logistics activities, as needed

Mission 2: Ensure the proper functioning of the base’s fleet

• Develop vehicle schedules based on program needs
• Prepare planning of drivers according to vehicle coverage and update planning based on requests or constraints
• Prepare administrative documents and loading for vehicle movements off base
• Ensure communication with base staff on planned maintenance and malfunctions

Mission 3: Ensure the maintenance and follow-up of the facilities

• Ensure facilities are checked at regular intervals
• Supervise small repairs and rehabilitations
• Report on needs for major rehabilitation
• Report needs for furniture and small equipment
• Ensure supply of water and energy to all facilities
• Monitor contract management of facilities

Mission 4: Manage the ICT resources of the base (in case there is no ICT Officer)

• Solve common user problems
• Ensure compliance with ICT standards on computers
• Supervise the data backup system

Mission 5: Supervise the logistics team of the base

• Organize the work of the base logistics department
• Manage recruitment for the base logistics department
• Contribute to the development of the training plan
• Conduct yearly evaluation interviews
• Provide technical support to the team as needed

Mission 6: Reporting

• Produce complete monthly logistics reports
• Track contract follow-up
• Maintain equipment lists
• Prepare fleet management reports
• Monitor stock follow-up

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain high technical standards
• Conduct all duties in a professional manner following ACF Nigeria mission staff regulations and mandate
• Promotion of gender equality

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supply, or a related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Relevant professional certification, such as CIPS or CILT, is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics management, preferably in a humanitarian, development, or I/NGO setting.
• Strong leadership, team management, training, and capacity-building skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, reporting, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and perform effectively under pressure, including in challenging or insecure environments.
• High level of integrity, accountability, flexibility, resilience, and transparency.
• Good command of English and Hausa, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
