Packaging Maintenance Planner

Key Purpose: Facilitate continuous improvement in plant reliability through TPM development and maintenance/project planning.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Maintenance Scheduling

• Using the maintenance planning system, generate routine maintenance schedules
• Include required cleaning, lubrication and inspection tasks
• Allocate resources to the schedules and generate work orders where indicated
• Communicate the schedules to production, engineering and other support teams; resolve work and resource allocation problems
• Verify routine maintenance schedules are being completed and that shift teams complete autonomous maintenance tasks assigned to them
• Complete all administration and maintenance systems tasks required supporting the management of routine maintenance schedules
• Provide feedback on the efficiency of routine maintenance tasks to shift and engineering teams; highlight non-compliance and problems needing attention

Maintenance Systems Management

• Where necessary, participate in commissioning of new maintenance systems or changes to current systems
• Manage the maintenance systems, ensuring operational and data integrity and correct use of the system
• Plan required maintenance work using the maintenance system, generating required schedules and associated work orders
• Generate required maintenance reports, including SAP Reports, and communicate to key stakeholders
• Capture required data on the maintenance systems
• Verify data for accuracy and completeness
• Conduct analysis on maintenance data to identify failure modes and root causes of maintenance problems
• Communicate analysis findings to engineering team and include in planned maintenance schedules

Maintenance Planning

• Facilitate and lead planning maintenance pre-meetings
• Discuss work required, problems to be addressed and resource requirements
• Plan all required work on the planned maintenance schedule
• Include ad hoc tasks; prioritize and generate relevant work requests
• Determine resource requirements and assign tasks to specific resources
• Interact with departmental heads to obtain resources as required
• Participate in planned maintenance periods in support of maintenance team; assist with problem solving, work prioritization and resource re-allocation
• Reschedule incomplete work to next planned maintenance period; capture all required information on maintenance systems
• Facilitate and lead maintenance postmortems; discuss problems encountered, opportunities identified, and lessons learned

Problem Solving

• Apply correct problem-solving approaches to resolve problems during routine and planned maintenance activities
• Call in additional resources or escalate to engineer for direction where required
• Assist fellow team members to resolve problems on request
• Participate as functional expert in FFAs on request

Key Attributes and Competencies

• PC Literate (Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications)

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent and trade
• 3 to 5 years production Engineering experience with 3 years at supervisory level
• Knowledge of Brewing and Packaging plant will be an advantage
