Required Qualifications & Experience (Minimum)
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social work, Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, Development Studies, or related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in protection monitoring, community mobilization, or humanitarian programming.
- Experience working in conflict-affected or humanitarian contexts, preferably in Northeast Nigeria.
- Basic understanding of protection principles, community-based protection, and referral pathways.
- Experience conducting community mobilization, awareness sessions, or protection monitoring activities.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
Responsibilities
Protection Monitoring & Field Implementation
- Conduct regular protection monitoring visits to targeted communities to identify protection risks, vulnerabilities, and emerging trends.
- Support the collection and documentation of protection monitoring data using FRAD-approved tools.
- Identify protection concerns affecting vulnerable populations including women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities.
Community Mobilization & Engagement
- Mobilize community members to participate in protection awareness sessions and community dialogues.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, women’s groups, youth groups, and community volunteers.
- Support community-based protection structures such as community protection committees and focal points.
Case Identification & Referral
- Identify individuals at risk of protection violations during field visits and community engagement activities.
- Facilitate safe and confidential referrals to relevant service providers including:
- GBV service providers
Protection Awareness & Capacity Building
- Support community sensitization sessions on topics including:
- Protection risks and prevention of violence
- Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness
- Child protection and safeguarding
Reporting, Documentation & Coordination
- Maintain accurate documentation of protection monitoring findings, community activities, and referrals.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly field reports by providing timely updates on protection concerns and community engagement activities.
- Share emerging protection risks and community feedback with the Protection Officer or Protection Manager.
- Participate in internal coordination meetings and protection sector activities when required.
