Description
The Gender Officer will be responsible for implementing gender focused interventions to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment and active participation in decision-making among refugees and host communities. This includes addressing social norms, supporting women in leadership, and enhancing safe, inclusive environments for women and youth engaged in agriculture and climate adaptation efforts.


To be successful in this role, you must have atleast 3 years of full-time relevant professional experience in Gender, focused program implementation, preferably in agriculture, climate resilience or community development projects. Moreover, we expect the following.


Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development studies and or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of gender dynamics within rural and refugee affected areas, particularly in the context of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and environmental management.

  • Proven experience in facilitating community training, dialogues and working with diverse stakeholders, including local authorities and cultural leaders.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and advocacy skills

  • Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different sectors of the community, tradition, culture, beliefs and refugee/host community hierarchical structures.

  • Experience with donor-funded projects and international Non-Governmental Organizations

  • Relevant work experience from Northern Uganda.

  • A good team player

  • Commitment to gender equality

  • Excellent Communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and negation skills

  • Proven commitment to accountability practices

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work with limited supervision

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential
