The Laboratory Assistant's overall duty is to provide technical support to the Laboratory technician and teacher in charge of science, contributing to students' learning experience by assisting with the preparation of materials and apparatus for practical work, innovative and should be familiar with the handling of chemicals and scientific equipment.
Requirements
- A Degree/Diploma in Laboratory Science Technology, (Biology, Physics, Chemistry)
- At least one year of experience with a government Institution/ school.
- Should have the ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems
- Should have a good hand-eye coordination, to use technical equipment with accuracy
- Should have the ability to maintain and calibrate technical equipment
- Good time management skills to work on several different projects at once
- Flexibility in order to work with and provide support for a number of people
- Must have excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organization and to explain complex techniques to interested parties
- An experience in providing demonstrations and writing technical reports
- Should have teamwork skills, patient and pays attention to detail.

Assists in setting up laboratory equipment for science classes
Assists science teacher in testing out new laboratory experiments prior to classroom implementation
Assists students in usage of laboratory equipment
Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies
Informs science teachers as to when new supplies and equipment are needed, and helps with ordering
Keeps laboratory equipment clean and in good working order
Collects and distributes lab materials
