KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support for Data Quality Initiatives: The role will play a key part in advancing DFCU’s data quality agenda by ensuring data is accurate, timely, and complete.
- Driving Data Maturity: The individual will support DFCU’s journey toward achieving a data maturity level of 5, where insights drive decision-making across the organization.
- Compliance Oversight: They will ensure adherence to data governance and privacy regulations.
- Monitoring and Investigation: The role involves identifying potential breaches in data governance and privacy, and leading necessary investigations.
- Risk Management: They will identify emerging data-related risks and collaborate with relevant teams to monitor and mitigate them.
- Data Lifecycle Management: This person will oversee the complete lifecycle of data—from entry to deletion—ensuring a clear understanding of data flow, system interactions, and access rights. As part of data privacy obligations, they will also conduct data protection impact assessments, particularly with third-party vendors.
- Data Quality Monitoring: They will establish and regularly monitor critical data quality elements, engaging business units to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Capacity Building: The individual will lead data training initiatives to build organization-wide awareness and competency in managing data effectively.
- Policy Implementation: They will be responsible for operationalizing data governance and privacy policies and standards across the Bank.
- Data Asset Management: They will oversee all data assets, appointing and guiding data stewards to ensure each department’s data is well-governed and accessible.
- Promoting Data Culture: The role will champion initiatives that embed a strong data-driven culture throughout the Bank.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A Bachelor of Science or Master’s Degree in any Business-related course.
- Other qualifications, certifications, or professional memberships that relate to Data Governance is an added advantage.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Audit, Governance, Compliance or Legal departments at a major financial institution.
- Experience with and understanding of risk management and terminology within related area of financial services, such as banking, investment asset management or insurance. Understanding of related products and services, and basic business processes.
- 1-2 experience implementing data privacy in an organization.
- Knowledge of financial products and their modelling and calibration in both risk–neutral and real world across a wide range of products.
- Creativity in problem solving.
- Programming skills (e.g., Python/R, SQL, Visual Basic). Knowledge of other programming languages is an added advantage.
