Senior Underwriter

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• At least 4 years in underwriting
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related field
  
• Diploma in insurance
  

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Have Industry Knowledge.
  
• Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
  
• Knowledge on market trends
  
• Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision
  
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Ensure Tax Invoices, Posting, Debits, Credits and policy documents for business accepted are done as per the agreed terms with the insured and in line with set departmental service standards
  
• Ensure that the monthly renewal notices are processed, issued, dispatched, followed through for each confirmation
  
• Evaluation of risks as per risk appetite and acceptance of risks as per the reinsurance treaty and authority Matrix
  
• Review and ensure outstanding bonds are cancelled when due
  
• Assisting the Assistant Underwriting manager in managing and training the underwriting staff
  
• Issue policy documentation with adherence to all Statutory and regulatory guidelines
  
• Ensure that all business accepted is adequately reinsured at commencement of cover
  
• Ensure all policies are underwritten as per the reinsurance treaties
  
• Process quotation within the agreed time frame and maintain quotations register
  
• Participate in development of new products that are bespoke and suitable to our clients, and which give GA mileage in the market
