Description
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience specifically within the steel structures or prefabricated steel industry.
Proven experience managing large-scale industrial or commercial projects (e.g., warehouses, high-rise steel frames, or infrastructure).
Expert ability to read and critique steel erection and construction drawings.
Advanced knowledge of industry-specific software (e.g., Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or MS Project/Primavera).
Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities. Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Deep understanding of health and safety regulations (OSHA) and building industry standards.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning and implementation of large-scale steel projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.
Interpret complex structural and erection drawings ($GA$ and shop drawings) to provide technical guidance and ensure fabrication accuracy.
Supervise a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, fabricators, and site supervisors; foster a culture of safety and high-quality workmanship.
Manage project P&L, monitor cash flow, negotiate with subcontractors, and handle contract variations and claims.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and consultants, ensuring clear communication and maintaining long-term partnerships.
Ensure all works comply with local and international regulatory standards (e.g., Eurocodes, British Standards, or Kenyan Building Codes) and internal Quality Assurance (QA/QC) protocols.
Provide high-level progress reports to the Directors, utilizing data-driven insights to forecast potential risks or delays.
