The Job

Reporting to the Managing Director will be expected to strategically lead the operations profitably while sustainably maintaining stakeholder satisfaction. Responsible for planning, staffing, directing, and controlling the operations function covering warehousing, production, and logistics. Responsible for developing and maintaining an effective operations function aligning activities with the Company's strategic mission and objectives, ensuring that the company targets for long-term sustainable competitive advantage, growth, profitability, and systems development are met in a dynamic and agile operating environment.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university in relevant filed.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in an operations role within a complex and fast paced manufacturing firm and a minimum of 5 years in a management or leadership capacity

  • Superior knowledge of industry regulations and operational guidelines

  • Excellent leadership and organizational abilities to manage large teams

  • Expertise in supply chain management and production workflow optimization.

  • Strong commercially, numerate and business acumen

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of Project Management using Gantt charting and visualization

  • Excellent knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems and good manufacturing practices

  • Proven knowledge of data analysis and performance evaluation metrics in a business setting

  • First-class people skills with a team-oriented mindset

  • Develop and implement operational strategic plan for JFM and ensure that operations are cost effective and reasonably profitable. Oversee the overall management of operations to ensure that all key performance requirements for efficient warehousing, production and export logistics are met.

  • Oversee the application of appropriate quality control measures to prevent loss and quality deterioration of products, and implementation of the food safety quality objectives. Responsible for contractor management and quality of outsourced jobs & services within the business unit.

  • Provide management and leadership to the team of direct reports, including appropriate support to their personal development to enhance the performance of the business unit.

  • Develop the operations budget, monitor, and control expenditure while ensuring the budgeted production quantity and quality targets are achieved. In addition, monitor the market and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations by instituting and maintaining health and safety measures in all operations to avoid accidents and degradation of the environment. This includes ensuring that employees know and understand their responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy and management system.

  • Continuously explore innovative ways of achieving higher people and equipment productivity, ensure effective and efficient utilisation of equipment. Prepare timely and accurate reports that include the efficiency and effectiveness of production through the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), plant utilization and OTIF.

  • Liaise with other departmental managers to understand all necessary aspects and needs for the operations function and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes, and achievements.

  • In liaison with the Human Resource department, ensure that the recruitment of talent, training ,evaluation and development of the Business unit staff is carried out in accordance with established company policy framework.

  • Maintain existing and new accreditations such as FSSC 220000, RFA, UTZs, organic and Fair-trade and ensuring compliance to all regulatory requirements in operations. Champion the implementation of world class manufacturing best practices in the business unit.
