Bento is tapping the payroll and HR management market in Africa that has traditionally relied on laborious analog processes to disburse pay. The startup, founded in 2019, is helping businesses to automate the disbursement of salaries and other statutory remittances, including taxes and pension.

We have expanded to East Africa and looking for a Country Lead to join us in this journey. As the country lead, you will be responsible for the success of our expansion into the country while overseeing all aspects of the business.


In order to succeed in this position, you need to be highly driven, have a passion for learning about and engaging with clients, and have a desire to build a business from the ground up.

Bento is tapping the payroll and HR management market in Africa that has traditionally relied on laborious analog processes to disburse pay. The startup, founded in 2019, is helping businesses to automate the disbursement of salaries and other statutory remittances, including taxes and pension.

We have expanded to East Africa and looking for a Country Lead to join us in this journey. As the country lead, you will be responsible for the success of our expansion into the country while overseeing all aspects of the business.


In order to succeed in this position, you need to be highly driven, have a passion for learning about and engaging with clients, and have a desire to build a business from the ground up.



  • Manage every aspect of our newly expanding operation in-country.
  • Recruit the very best talent in this new market.
  • Develop sales, marketing and tech teams with local expertise.
  • Lead nationwide sales team members to achieve sales targets.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics and suggest improvements.
  • Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies
  • Collaborate with leadership to strategize how best to roll out the Bento product
  • Network effectively with local clients and develop strong professional relationships and know in-country competitors.
  • Become a student of the culture, remaining aware of compliance policies in the country.
  • Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with clients’ needs.
  • Synthesize monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on progress and development
  • Stay up-to-date with new product launches and ensure sales team members are on board

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience across multiple functions

  • Proven success in business development and delivering growth

  • High growth/emerging market/start-up experience is an additional advantage

  • Demonstrated track record of revenue responsibility, preferably B2B and/or tech

  • Experience leading teams and passion for developing people
