Description
On behalf of our client, a leading Manufacturer of Wood Products, we are seeking a results-driven Production Manager who will oversee all production operations from start to finish. The primary goal for this position is to ensure smooth, efficient processes that meet exceptional quality standards and client expectations while optimizing productivity and reducing labor costs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or an advanced degree are an added advantage.

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.

  • Strong understanding of wood product manufacturing processes (machinery, assembly, finishing, and packaging) and quality control standards.

  • Proficiency in Lean principles is highly valued, specifically methodologies such as 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to optimize operations and reduce waste.

  • Familiarity with industry-specific quality control standards and policies is essential to ensure product compliance.

  • professional training in production management software and analytical tools is necessary for tracking performance and resource utilization.

  • Relevant certifications in occupational health and safety (OHS) are critical for managing safety audits and ensuring compliance with workplace regulations.

Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Resource Management

  • Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.

  • Ensure efficient utilization of raw materials, equipment, and labor.

  • Monitor and adjust plans as needed to optimize productivity and minimize waste.

  • Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure a timely supply of raw materials.

  • Monitor inventory levels, implement control measures, and lead stock accuracy efforts.

2. Leadership & Team Performance

  • Lead production supervisors and workshop staff with equity and fairness.

  • Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to achieve production targets.

  • Foster a positive work environment promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with the HR Lead to conduct performance evaluations and identify skill development opportunities.

3. Quality Control & Process Improvement

  • Institute and lead the quality control and assurance committee.

  • Enforce strict quality measures to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.

  • Investigate and resolve production issues or quality concerns promptly.

  • Drive Lean manufacturing principles, such as 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.

  • Develop strategies to increase efficiency and reduce material and labor costs.

4. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the mandatory use of PPE.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions through root cause analysis.

  • Provide training and resources to employees to promote safety awareness and best practices.
