HI has been present in Kenya since 1992 implementing interventions
on Health and Rehabilitation, Social and Economic Inclusion, Inclusive Education, Protection, and Inclusive Humanitarian Action. HI implements project
within the Dadaab Refugee Camp and host communities in Garissa Region,
Kakuma Refugee Camp & Kalobeyei Settlement Scheme, Turkana West Region, and
greater Nairobi.Within the ECHO-funded "Improving
protection outcomes for at-risk refugees and host communities through
integrated and evidence driven actions in Dadaab, Kakuma/Kalobeyei and
Nairobi," implemented in a consortium with other partners, HI is
responsible for strengthening disability-inclusive protection. HI’s goal is to
ensure that persons with disabilities (PwD), one of the most vulnerable groups
in the refugee camps, can access life-saving protection services and participate safely in their communities. Reporting to the Project Supervisor, the Occupational Therapy Project Officer supports the implementation of Humanity & Inclusion’s mandate and 10-year strategy within their base. They are responsible for project execution, ensuring high-quality standards and
measurable impact while collaborating closely with the programme technical team.

Responsibilities
Key role:
·
Multidisciplinary Service Delivery:
Lead and manage occupation-based rehabilitation services in close collaboration with Physiotherapists, P&O Technicians, and Psychosocial
Workers.
·
Technical Supervision: Reports directly
to the Project Supervisor, with a technical advisory link to the Regional
Rehabilitation Specialist for quality assurance.
·
Direct Clinical Support: Partner with
caregivers and CBR workers to
provide direct therapy, home follow- ups, and family
education, focusing on improving Activities of Daily Living
(ADL) for children
with disabilities.
·
CBR Oversight & Capacity Building: Supervise and mentor Community-Based Rehabilitation workers, ensuring high-performance standards through
continuous on-the-job training and skill development.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Operational Implementation & Planning
·
Action Planning: Develop activities, tools, and resource
plans in collaboration with support services
and the technical unit.
·
Resource Management: Execute the project action
plan and ensure resources are allocated according to authorized frameworks.
·
Reporting & Strategy:
Submit regular activity
reports and identify
areas for project
adaptation or formal amendments.
·
Partnership & Archiving: Coordinate with local stakeholders, monitor partner relationships, and ensure all project data is properly archived.
2. MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, & Learning)
·
Performance Tracking: Monitor activity
progress indicators and outcome targets.
·
Evaluation: Support project evaluations and implement resulting
recommendations.
·
Accountability: Facilitate the smooth
operation of feedback
and accountability mechanisms.
·
Learning: Actively contribute to project learning
and knowledge sharing.
3. Data Management & Team Coordination
·
Data Integrity: Use standardized collection tools to maintain accurate
project databases in line with global HI standards.
·
Team Synergy: Facilitate coordination meetings between project
teams and support
services (logistics/finance) to ensure seamless implementation.
4. External Communication & Emergency Response
·
Advocacy: Represent HI in professional networks
and communicate project
milestones to partners
and authorities.
·
Crisis Response: Support emergency preparedness initiatives and adapt working
arrangements to contribute to humanitarian responses when
required.
