Production Assistant

Leading a manufacturing shift in production of good quality made tea by overseeing quality green leaf reception, withering, cutting, fermenting, drying, sorting, packing and boilers as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Monitor tea production parameters to maintain efficiency, quality, and safety.

Ensure optimum utilization of equipment and workforce to meet production targets.

Support quality assurance efforts by monitoring tea grades and outturn ratios.

Assist in implementing food safety standards (ISO 22000:2018, Rainforest Alliance, OHS).

Ensure compliance with statutory permits, regulatory licenses, and buyer certification requirements.

Coordinate with the technical team to ensure routine maintenance and minimal downtime.

Follow up on stock levels and coordinate with procurement for timely replenishment of supplies.

Verify received goods and ensure adherence to required standards.

Maintain production records and compile monthly reports for internal and regulatory use.

Assist in preparing production returns for Tea Board and Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.

Provide guidance and mentorship to shift in-charges and factory workers.

Conduct training on SOPs, safety protocols, and quality management systems.

Implementing the factory operation policies and procedures to ensure achievement of desired quality.

Spearheading utilization of machines and equipment to realize efficiency targets including factory throughput, electricity consumption, firewood consumption and Overall line effectiveness (OLE).

Ensuring the health and safety standards, policies and procedures are adhered to, to guarantee a safe working environment.

Compiling production data and make periodical management reports on all the operations at the factory as and when needed.

Maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPS) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP) within the production floor.

Inducting and training newly employed staffs and employees on Food Safety, Health and Safety, Rainforest Alliance, Company policies and procedures.

Ensure on time production of high-quality tea.

Production planning, organizing production schedules and production monitoring to ensure production of quality tea.

Allocate and manage labour within the Production line

Ensuring minimal waste generation during production by training, implementing, monitoring and evaluating waste generation minimizing activities.

Quality control of the final product through hourly tea tasting.

Any other duty as may be lawfully assigned
