Description
Requirements
– Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
– Candidates holding a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering with substantial relevant experience may be considered.
– Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), KETRB or equivalent professional body will be an added advantage.
– Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical power systems, industrial installations, renewable energy, or related fields.
– Demonstrated experience in Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) integration.
– Strong knowledge of power quality analysis, power factor correction systems, and protection coordination.
– Experience with electrical commissioning and troubleshooting.
– Proficiency in electrical design and analysis software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or equivalent tools.Knowledge of relevant IEC standards and utility interconnection requirements.
– Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
– Conduct power quality analysis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues relating to power factor, harmonics, voltage fluctuations, and system instability.
– Assess and optimize Power Factor Correction (PFC) systems and capacitor banks to prevent overcompensation and minimize utility penalties.
– Design and review electrical distribution boards, single-line diagrams, and protection schemes for solar PV and BESS projects.
– Lead electrical commissioning activities and support installation teams during system energization and fault diagnosis.
– Configure and optimize inverter and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) control settings to ensure efficient operation and seamless grid interaction.
– Perform protection coordination studies and verify proper operation of electrical protection devices.
– Develop and standardize electrical panel designs and oversee fabrication activities to ensure quality and consistency.
– Investigate and resolve harmonic distortion, voltage imbalance, and other power quality challenges affecting system performance.
– Provide technical support to project teams during design, installation, commissioning, and operational phases.
– Develop internal engineering standards, procedures, and best practices for electrical systems.
– Train and mentor electrical technicians and engineers to enhance internal technical capability and facilitate knowledge transfer.
– Collaborate with engineering, project management, operations, and service teams to deliver high-quality and reliable energy solutions.
– Ensure compliance with electrical standards, safety requirements, utility regulations, and industry best practices.
