Description
You might be a strong candidate if you have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of sales experience, with at least 3 years in a national sales management role.
- Proven, hands-on experience in managing Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG), microfinance, or consumer goods sold on credit/installment plans.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing a dispersed field sales team.
- Good track record in developing retail networks and driving sales growth.
- Deep understanding of collections processes and credit management in a low-income customer segment.
- Highly detail-oriented with good data interpretation skills.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 70%) within the country.
Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Strategy
- Build, coach, and manage a national Paygo Phone Sales team.
- Develop and execute the national retail expansion strategy for PAYG phones, setting clear targets for outlet onboarding, sales volume, and portfolio health.
- Review market data, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify new opportunities and optimize strategy.
2. Retail Network Expansion & Management
- Drive the rapid and sustainable onboarding of new retail outlets (e.g., local shops, kiosks, electronics stores) across the country.
- Establish strong, productive relationships with retail owners and staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable, motivated, and effectively selling Sun King PAYG phones.
- Oversee retail staff training programs on product features, the PAYG value proposition, sales techniques, and the use of our sales/digital platform.
3. Sales & Repayments (Collections) Performance
- Own the end-to-end sales cycle, from outlet stocking to customer repayment.
- Implement and monitor a rigorous system for tracking customer repayments.
- Develop and enforce effective follow-up procedures (e.g., via SMS, call centers, field agents) to minimize arrears and defaults.
- Collaborate with the Finance and Credit Risk teams to review repayment data, identify risk patterns, and implement strategies to improve collection rates.
- Ensure the team provides excellent customer service to resolve issues that may affect repayments.
4. Operational Excellence
- Manage inventory forecasting and logistics with the supply chain team to ensure product availability at retail points.
- Ensure all retail outlets comply with brand merchandising, point-of-sale material display, and contractual agreements.
- Utilize Sun King’s CRM and sales technology platforms to track performance, generate reports, and make data-informed decisions.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.
