Required Qualifications and Experience

  • BSC/HND in Computer Science, or related courses with a minimum of two (2) years’ performing a similar role in a well-structured environment. Experience in the use of GIS Software is an advantage.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have experience in the use of statistical analysis tools like R, open access data management.
  • Be ready to work in a team and have a good sense of interpersonal relationship.
  • Have good documents and organizational skills.
  • Have good synergy with informal seed actors as well as breeding seed systems linkages.
  • Have experience on data based tools to VPC Seed Production, deployment and scaling innovations.
Responsibilities
  • Collect, receive, clean, compile, and consolidate survey data to determine total cultivated area, adoption rates of improved varieties, seed replenishment cycles (in years), and the proportion of purchased seed, in support of validating the Seed Requirement Estimation (SRE) tool in Nigeria and Ghana.
  • Prepare and submit reports on data-related activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Contribute to the development of a database of seed entrepreneurs in geo-targeted areas of Nigeria and Ghana, and support its use for GIS-based analysis of relationships between yam, cassava, and banana/plantain seed demand and supply.
  • Facilitate and support training sessions for trainers, partners, and other seed stakeholders on the use of the Seed Requirement Estimation Tool for early generation seed production planning, as well as data collection spreadsheets.
  • Participate in research planning and progress review meetings with IITA and partner delivery teams.
  • Clean and upload data to CKAN and other approved platforms in line with supervisor guidance and data management standards.
  • Manage the data repository for early generation seed requirement estimation, including production and deployment volumes, as well as inventory of equipment and supplies, and promptly report any equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
