Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field.
· Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or related field (preferred).
· Certification as a hospital or university librarian is an added advantage.
· Strong familiarity with digital library systems and cataloging standards.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, health databases, and evidence-based research tools.
· Awareness of academic publishing and open-access repositories.
Experience
· 6–8 years of progressive experience in a hospital or university medical library.
· Proven experience providing customer service in academic or clinical environments.
· Experience in supporting clinical and academic research through information services.
· Proficiency with CRM systems, learning management platforms, and other educational technologies.
Responsibilities
Library Operations and Information Management
· Manage and maintain a comprehensive collection of medical books, journals, audio-visual materials, and digital resources.
· Catalog, organize, and store physical and electronic resources using modern library systems and standards.
· Ensure regular updates to databases and institutional repositories for accuracy and accessibility.
Research and Academic Support
· Assist healthcare professionals, researchers, and students with literature searches and reference services.
· Provide instruction and support for evidence-based practice and academic writing.
· Register AMCE as an institution with research and academic repositories to expand access.
Training and User Engagement
· Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate users on accessing and utilizing library tools and databases.
· Develop instructional materials to support research, teaching, and learning across departments.
· Collaborate with faculty, students, and external library partners to foster resource sharing and knowledge dissemination.
Policy and Development
· Develop and implement library policies, usage guidelines, and strategic plans.
· Monitor trends in medical information services and adopt new technologies to enhance access.
· Participate in the development of educational content and support interdepartmental learning initiatives.
