Required Skills and experience

  • Professional experience of at least (03) three years in a similar position, in governance and program management and coordination. 
  • Experience with the design and use of e-data/survey tools (ODK, Kobocollect, etc.); familiarity with DHIS an added advantage. 
  • Skills in data quality assurance methods and data analysis and use 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Word or comparable professional software package - specific competence in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and working knowledge of Excel.  
  • Public speaking ability, good presentation skills and ability to facilitate training is highly desired. 
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.

  • We are currently recruiting a Program Specialist, MEL to support its growing malaria portfolio in Nigeria.
  • The Program Specialist, MEL will support the monitoring and evaluation of activities to strengthen country health information systems.
  • The successful candidate will also support the project team and the Ministry of Health to set up monitoring, evaluation and learning system and processes including monitoring of health system performance.
  • S/he will collaborate with other key in-country partners to support quality assurance activities and compile malaria-related data.
  • The position requires database management skills as well as skills in data cleaning and quality assurance and strong report writing abilities.
  • The role will report to the Senior Technical Program Manager in Nigeria.  

Duties

  • Partner closely with the NMEP, partners, and other key stakeholders to coordinate surveillance investment priorities in-line with the new costed and prioritized malaria surveillance roadmap.  
  • Participate in TWG surveillance meetings to coordinate surveillance priorities under the guidance of the NMEP.  
  • Support the development of malaria surveillance tools, including a data quality audit toolkit, in close collaboration with the NMEP.  
  • Assist with reviewing progress on the MDR and support streamlining data pipelines needed for SNT analyses. 
  • Support improvements to current malaria and intervention delivery dashboards available from the MDR to improve data used for decision-making in partnership with the NMEP and other key stakeholders and partners.  
  • Provide technical assistance to the NMEP to improve malaria surveillance systems based on identified priorities.  
  • Identify issues/challenges and develop strategies for effective implementation. 
  • Support Senior Technical Program Manager to develop and update country work plans to reflect updated progress of key surveillance activities. 
  • Represent OIPH and the project on technical working groups and maintain contacts with other organizations engaged in project activities.
