Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.

· Memberships of National or West African colleges (or equivalent) or in advanced stages of training.

· Valid registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

· Demonstrated experience in gynaecology, with exposure to colposcopy and cervical screening.

· Strong clinical judgement, communication, and teamwork skills.

· Certification in colposcopy, hysteroscopy, or laparoscopic surgery (desirable).

· Exposure to gynaecological oncology protocols and case management.

Responsibilities

Clinical Care

· Assist consultants in advanced surgical procedures, including:

. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS), hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy.

. LEEP, laser treatments, biopsies, and staging surgeries for gynaecological cancers.

Multidisciplinary Teamwork

· Actively contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and tumour boards for holistic treatment planning.

· Collaborate with radiologists, pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists in managing patient care.

· Work within nursing and allied health teams to support patient navigation and counselling.

Training & Supervision

· Mentor and supervise junior doctors, residents, and medical students in clinical and surgical settings.

· Lead structured teaching sessions, including bedside teaching and case discussions.

· Engage in peer learning and reflective practice to enhance professional development.


Quality Assurance & Governance

· Participate in clinical audits, morbidity & mortality meetings, and case reviews.

· Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, SOPs, and service improvement initiatives.

· Ensure compliance with AMCE and MDCN standards for documentation and patient care.

Research and Innovation

· Engage in clinical research, data collection, and academic publications.

· Present findings at departmental meetings, conferences, and quality forums.

· Attend training programmes to advance surgical skills and knowledge in gynaecological oncology.
