Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Crop Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Education, r related agricultural discipline
  • A Postgraduate training in Climate Smart Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, Rural Development, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in agricultural development programming.
  • At least 5 years of experience implementing Climate Smart Agriculture interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with farmer groups and producer organizations.
  • Experience working in refugee settlements or humanitarian-development contexts.


Responsibilities

1. Climate Smart Agriculture Implementation.

  • Lead implementation of climate-smart agriculture interventions
  • Promote adoption of improved crop production technologies and practices.
  • Support establishment and management of demonstration plots and learning sites.
  • Facilitate Farmer Field Schools (FFS) and participatory learning approaches.
  • Promote conservation agriculture and climate-resilient farming systems.

2. Farmer Capacity Building.

  • Train farmers, extension agents, community facilitators, and farmer groups on Climate-smart agriculture, Good agronomic practices, Soil and water conservation, Integrated pest management, Post-harvest handling, Seed production and multiplication.
  • Develop and disseminate extension materials.
  • Strengthen farmer institutional development and governance structures.

3. Farmer Group Development.

  • Support the formation and strengthening of farmer groups and producer organizations.
  • Facilitate development of group constitutions and governance systems.
  • Build the capacity of farmer groups in Leadership, Financial literacy, Record keeping, Collective marketing, Enterprise development.
  • Support the establishment of village-level agricultural learning platforms.

4. Agricultural Input Support

  • Coordinate identification and registration of eligible beneficiary households.
  • Support implementation of input distribution and e-voucher systems.
  • Ensure timely access to quality seeds, planting materials, fertilizers, and agricultural tools.
  • Monitor utilization and performance of distributed inputs.

5. Sustainable Land Management.

  • Promote soil and water conservation practices.
  • Support the establishment of contour bunds, terraces, and water harvesting structures where applicable.
  • Promote agroforestry and integrated farming systems.
  • Support restoration of degraded agricultural land.

6. Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture.

  • Collaborate with the Nutrition Officer to promote production and consumption of diverse nutritious foods.
  • Promote household kitchen gardens.
  • Encourage production of vegetables, fruits, legumes, and biofortified crops.

7. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.

  • Develop activity implementation plans and field schedules.
  • Monitor performance of agricultural interventions.
  • Collect and verify agricultural production data.

8. Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination.

  • Participate in relevant coordination and technical working group meetings.
  • Support development of strategic partnerships within agricultural value chains.
