To support the provision of effective and confidential counselling services to students and members of staff.

Requirements

An honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling and Guidance, Counselling Psychology, Social Work and Social Administration or related discipline from a recognized university.
Membership of a Counselling Professional body shall be an added advantage.
Should have experience in counselling youths and other young people.
Should have excellent communication and listening skills.
Should have a positive attitude towards people.
Should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds of six (6) months probationary period.
Should have demonstrable attributes of sincerity, integrity, confidentiality and empathy.
Must not be above 30 years of age at the time of application.

Providing counselling and guidance to students and staff on demand.
Monitoring the progress of staff and students who have undergone counselling and guidance.
Assisting in compiling and maintaining a database of useful information on guidance and counselling and makes it available to clients.
Establishing and maintaining close working links with academic and administrative organs of the University that offer welfare and psychological support services
Liaising with other entities engaged in counselling and guidance in building a pool of Counsellors and support for better services helping clients.
Participating in sensitization workshops or seminars for staff and students on matters relating to counselling and guidance.
Referring students and staff to other support services and agencies as appropriate.
Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
