Description
Qualifications and experience:
1. Must have a Master of Science in Nursing or related field from a recognized Institution of Higher learning.
2. Must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized institution of higher learning.
3. Must have University teaching experience at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Lecturer for at least two (2) years or Tutorial Assistant for at least three (3) years.
4. Must have at least one scholarly article or publication or should have undertaken at least one research project/paper.
5. Must be registered or eligible for full registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners' Council.
6. Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines; Evidence of ability to teach and to supervise academic work by undergraduates and graduates.
7. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
8. Proven record of ability to conduct high-quality research which is reflected in the authorship of high-quality publications, or other research outputs, in the area of nursing and midwifery.
9. Proven commitment to academic research, commitment to high-quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students, and commitment to continuous professional development.
10. Must be a committed and practicing Christian.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participate in course administration and instruction for the Medical school curriculum.
2. Develop and deliver an integrated curriculum, which blends science and clinical concepts, in collaboration with faculty members in other disciplines.
3. Employ multiple teaching methods including case-based instruction, large and small group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, team-based learning and distance education.
4. Provide formative and summative assessment of undergraduate and post-graduate Medical student performance.
5. Provide individual support, feedback, and advice to Medical students.
6. Work closely with the course and curriculum committees, fellow faculty, and key administrators to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Medical school’s curriculum.
7. Engage in scholarship and academically-related public service.
8. Supervising student Microbiology sessions, treatment plans, and competences; acting as a clinical academic advisor and/or undergraduate Microbiology portfolio supervisor, as requested by the Head of Department.
9. Actively engage in research in Anatomy, or a related filed, within developing UCUSoM research themes.
10. Provide support to research internally and externally by attending and presenting at relevant meetings.
11. Engage in publication of original material (reviews, case studies, research results).
12. Provide continuing professional development in the area of Microbiology.
