Experience and technical competencies:

To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of two (2) years' experience working with vulnerable communities, basic needs and protection programming experience (prevention and response). Moreover. we also expect the following.

Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social sciences, Development studies, Community psychology, Guidance and Counselling or any related field.

  • Professional training in Child Protection.

  • Proven experience working directly with children and PSS skills specific to communication with children

  • Basic counselling and case management skills to handle disclosures and safe referrals

  • Experience working with UN or Non‐Governmental organizations.

  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

  • Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness.

  • Computer skills.

Responsibilities

Project implementation and adherence to standards

  • Facilitate community-based child protection prevention sessions, including awareness on child protection risks, available services, and safe referral pathways.

  • Facilitate positive parenting sessions using approved national or organizational modules to promote safe caregiving practices and prevent violence, neglect, and exploitation of children

  • Conduct community discussions and engagement activities with caregivers, youth, and community members to address harmful practices affecting children.

  • Support the implementation of child protection prevention methodologies and community engagement activities in line with DRC standards and child protection principles.

  • Collaborate with Child Protection case workers to ensure prevention activities reflect protection risks and violations identified through case management.

Coordination and representation

  • Work closely with community leaders, parasocial workers, help desk workers, and other community protection structures to strengthen their capacity to identify and refer children at risk

  • Maintain regular coordination with Child Protection case workers and other protection staff to ensure prevention activities complement response services.

  • Liase with community-based child protection mechanisms and local stakeholders to support the implementation of prevention initiatives.

  • Participate in relevant community meetings and protection coordination activities at field level when required.

Reporting

  • Contribute to weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity reporting as required by the Protection Team Leader and Child Protection Officer.

  • Provide informatin on child protection concerns, community risks, and emerging trends identified through prevention activities to inform programme monitoring and response

Logistics and administration

  • Plan and coordinate field movements and community sessions in accordance with DRC procedures and security guidelines.

  • Follow all DRC procedures related to security, logistics, finance, HR, and administration when implementing project activities.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors necessary for effective implementation of project activities.
