To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in protection or community-based programming in humanitarian settings. Moreover, we also expect the following.
Required
A Bachelor’s degree in Social sciences, Community development, Development studies, Social work and social administration, Guidance and counselling or relevant fields.
Strong understanding of protection principles, community engagement, and participatory approaches.
Experience in facilitating trainings and community dialogues
Training in Community-Based protection services.
Experience in protection interventions in line with Refugees operation with PSN assistance.
Experience of working with UN or Non‐Governmental organizations.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Responsibilities
Project implementation
Plan and implement community-based protection activities in line with project objectives and work plans.
Promote inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups (women,children, persons with disabilities, elderly) through conducting of community feedback sessions
Strengthening community participation in identifying risks, needs, and solutions through participatory assessments in coordination with MEAL teams.
Promote accountability to affected populations (AAP) and ensure feedback mechanisms are functional.
Ensure the proper implementation and reporting of community-based protection activities and ensure that all activities are carried out reported in an effective, efficient and transparent matter
Coordination and representation
Develop relationships with a range of key stakeholders, Local Government and other stakeholders on the community services thematic areas at the field level in close liaison with the Protection Team Leader.
Representation of DRC and actively take lead in the community feedback sessions in coordination with UNHCR, OPM and DRC MEAL team.
Close co-ordination in project implementation with partners (UN agencies and national/international NGOs), including referrals, community services gap analysis, advocacy.
Staff development and management
Provide technical and programmatic leadership for the Protection Assistant-Community based protection staff, Help Desk Workers and Community Development Workers and other Community-Based Structures within the operational areas.
Develop performance measurement and targets for the CDWs, Help Desk Workers and appraise them based on the set targets.
Conduct daily field supervisions to support Community based workers by providing mentorship through technical back stopping and capacity strengthening.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Contribute to the daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects and interventions.
Assist in participatory needs/vulnerability and capacity assessments of affected communities
Participate in project evaluations and assist in the analysis of results.
Monitor activity progress against targets and indicators.
Support management team to:
Follow up all DRC Procedures for Security, Finance, Logistics, HR and Administration.
Uphold DRC’s international code of conduct and principles of accountability.
Any other tasks may be assigned from time to time
