We invite applications for the position of Transport Coordinator at our Kericho operation at Finlays Tea Extracts Saosa Factory.


Job Overview

The Transport Coordinator will report to the Plant Engineer and will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and maintaining all transport activities at the Engineering Department.


Minimum Requirements

  • At least a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Automotive option

  • At least 2 years experience in a related field

  • Working knowledge in general vehicle maintenance

  • This Job requires a person with strong supervisory and coordination skills.

  • Knowledge in general vehicle maintenance.

  • Schedule and coordinate all transport activities, staff allocation, overtime approval, leave schedules, and drivers’ allowances approval.

  • Ensure transport records/data are continuously updated and kept for future reference.

  • Monitor fleet movement and ensure a smooth flow of communication with drivers and operators.

  • Responsible for Fleet fuel consumption monitoring and maintenance cost control

  • Supervise drivers under the section.

  • Ensure scheduled maintenance, including daily checks and servicing is carried out for all vehicles.

  • Ensure safety audit is carried out on all vehicles.

  • Ensure all vehicles are kept clean and in good working condition.

  • Ensure that protocol is followed for drivers operating outside and within the company.

  • Implement and ensure vehicle maintenance records and documentation are up to date.

  • In conjunction with the Plant Engineer, coordinate company fleet registration and compliance with NTSA regulations.

  • Respond to traffic issues in liaison with drivers, security department, and management.

  • Provide transport for company visitors in liaison with the respective management.

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety policies, management systems, and procedures

  • Institute and maintain health and safety measures in all operations of the section to avoid accidents and degradation of the environment

  • Adhere to all Food Safety and Quality Management System’s requirements.

  • Ensuring employees are adequately trained to perform the tasks and are aware of all emergency procedures.

  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with appropriate statutory regulations and codes of practice.

  • Ensuring that Work equipment is in safe condition, housekeeping maintained and safe access maintained.

  • Any Incidents (property damage, accidents, near misses, and hazards) and occupational diseases are reported for remedial action.

  • Ensuring suitable personal protective equipment is issued, used, and maintained by staff and others where necessary.

  • Participating in safety walks at the workplace.

  • Ensuring the protection of the environment and compliance with Nema and the various standards.
