We invite applications for the position of Clerk of Works - one-year renewable term contract at our Kericho operations – Tea Extracts Saosa Factory.
Job Overview:
The Clerk of Works will report to the Project Manager and will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting all construction activities on the process plant construction project site to ensure that they meet the required quality, safety, and other regulatory standards. To be the client's eyes and ears on the site and collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and engineers to ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or construction-related field.
2-4 years of experience in construction, with a focus on process plant/factory construction.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and quantity & progress tracking.
Project management experience will be an added advantage.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes.
Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
Certification or accreditation related to construction quality assurance and inspection.

Identify and report any deviations, defects, or non-compliance issues to the project management team.
Maintain detailed records of all site activities, inspections, and issues.
Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities adhere to health and safety regulations, environmental requirements, and other relevant statutory obligations.
Verify that contractors and subcontractors have the necessary permits and licenses.
Monitor and report on progress, milestones, and compliance milestones.
Documentation: Prepare detailed inspection reports, daily logs, and documentation of site activities.
Review and approve contractor documentation, including method statements and quality control plans.
Maintain an organized record-keeping system for project documents and correspondence.
Communication: Act as a liaison between the client, project management team, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Participate in project meetings and provide updates on on-site activities, issues, and progress.
Communicate and resolve construction-related issues with contractors promptly.
Problem Solving: Identify and address construction-related issues, conflicts, or delays promptly and proactively.
Collaborate with project management to propose solutions to unforeseen challenges.
Technical Expertise: Stay up to date with industry best practices, codes, and standards relevant to process plant construction.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure construction quality.
