INTRODUCTION
Tharaka University was established through Gazette Legal Notice No. 146 of 27th July 2017. It was chartered as a fully-fledged public university on 2nd August 2022 by His Excellency, President Uhuru Kenyatta at a ceremony held at Kakamega State Lodge in Kakamega County. The University provides access to quality higher education in the region and beyond.
Tharaka University is located at the heart of mineral-rich Tharaka near Gatunga market. The location of the university provides a perfect setting for learning and interaction between students and staff from all walks of life, free from hustle and bustle of mundane activities. At Tharaka University, high quality and affordable university education are the hallmarks of operations.
