Graduate Trainee Programmes 2027 in Kenya: Get Ready Before They Open

Kenya's graduate trainee programmes reward graduates who are ready before the advert drops. This guide covers eight programmes checked against the employer's own page or an official government page: KCB, NCBA, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, Safaricom, BAT and KRA, with what each asked for in its latest round. It closes with a get-ready-now checklist and a hard rule: genuine employers never charge fees.

Don't find out about the KCB management trainee programme the week after it closed. Most graduate trainee programmes for 2027 in Kenya haven't opened yet. That's your head start. Being ready before the advert goes up is the one advantage you fully control. Below are eight programmes whose details we checked on the employer's own website or an official government page, with what each asked for in its latest round.

Treat this page as a guide, not a promise. Requirements change, intakes can move or be cancelled, and the employer's careers page always has the final word.

Banks: Check Your Graduation Date Before You Apply

  • KCB Management Trainee Programme: 24 months. The 2026 round closed on 3 July 2026 and asked for a first degree completed within the last two years, in fields such as computer science, IT, finance, actuarial science, economics, statistics or law. It also asked for confident use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and applications were reviewed by KCB's recruitment partner, Career Connections (KCB's 2026 management trainee application page). Use the 2026 deadline as a rough marker for the 2027 management trainee program, not a promise.
  • NCBA Go Getter Internship Program: an internship for fresh graduates, applied for through NCBA's Go Getter application page. The page doesn't list dates or grade requirements, so bookmark it and check back.

Deloitte, PwC and KPMG Are Not Just for Accounting Students

All three take graduates from well beyond accounting.

  • Deloitte East Africa Annual Graduate Recruitment: Deloitte's current requirements for Kenya ask for a second upper in any discipline for the Tax and Audit roles, or a second upper in actuarial science for the Actuarial role. Applicants also need to have graduated in 2024, 2025 or 2026, with a KCSE B and a B in Maths and English (Deloitte Kenya's academic requirements). Graduates build careers in Audit & Assurance, Tax & Legal or Consulting (Deloitte Kenya's graduate recruitment page).
  • PwC Kenya Graduate Recruitment: PwC says it accepts people from all degree backgrounds (PwC Kenya's graduate recruitment page). The page still shows an old application window, so watch it for the next round's dates and grade requirements.
  • KPMG East Africa Graduate Recruitment: graduate roles across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. The 2026 round closed on 10 June 2026 (KPMG Kenya's graduates page; KPMG's 2026 East Africa recruitment notice). KPMG's published criteria cover the other three countries, so read the Kenya section of the next advert closely.

Telecoms, Manufacturing and Government: Read the Fine Print

Safaricom wants you fresh. BAT wants experience, but not too much.

  • Safaricom Internship Program: open to degree students in third or fourth year, those awaiting graduation, and graduates within 12 months of graduating. Internships run for three to six months, and the number of places depends on business needs (Safaricom's internship programme page).
  • BAT Kenya Global Graduate Programme: a Leaf Operations role in Thika, listed on BAT's careers site, is an 18-month fixed-term programme for graduates in agribusiness management, agriculture or agronomy. It asks for experience in supply chain, agriculture or manufacturing, and no more than three years' experience after graduation (BAT's Global Graduate Leaf Operations listing).
  • KRA Graduate Trainee Programme: two years, including paramilitary training. The last advert on KRA's graduate trainee careers page closed on 8 September 2025. It asked for Kenyans under 35 at closing, a first degree in listed fields such as accounting, law and computer science, and a KCSE mean grade of C+ with at least C+ in Maths and in English or Kiswahili.

Government graduate programmes in Kenya are not Plan B. They're competitive, and they reward the same preparation.

Graduate Trainee Programmes 2027: Prepare Before Adverts Drop

Treat every application window as short. Then you're never caught out.

  1. Set alerts and reminders. Bookmark each employer's careers page and set a phone reminder a few weeks before its last deadline comes round.
  2. Scan your documents today. Degree certificate or completion letter, transcripts, KCSE result slip, national ID and KRA PIN, saved as PDFs on your phone.
  3. Keep a one-page CV ready to tailor. Plain format, so screening software can read it (How to Get Your CV Past the ATS).
  4. Be honest about grade cut-offs. Target the programmes you qualify for. Never adjust a grade or date: a false detail can cost you the offer later.
  5. Practice aptitude tests. If a shortlist includes numerical or verbal reasoning, you'll be glad you practised.

Still studying? An internship now strengthens a trainee application later, and Safaricom's programme takes third- and fourth-year students. See how Skills2Grow paid internships work too.

Anyone Charging You to Apply Is Not an Employer
Genuine employers don't charge a fee to apply, test, interview or train you. If anyone asks for M-Pesa to "secure your slot", walk away. Check every advert against the employer's own website, and read How to Spot Fake Job Offers in Kenya Before You Pay.

Tonight, pick the programmes you qualify for and bookmark their careers pages. When the 2027 windows open, will you be scrambling or ready?
