Description
On behalf of our client We are seeking a high-caliber Project Manager to lead large-scale steel construction and fabrication projects for a market-leading firm. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert with a decade of experience in steel structures, capable of bridging the gap between complex engineering designs and on-site execution and will hold full accountability for the project lifecycle—from contract management and resource optimization to final erection and handover.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.

  2. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience specifically within the steel structures or prefabricated steel industry.

  3. Proven experience managing large-scale industrial or commercial projects (e.g., warehouses, high-rise steel frames, or infrastructure).

  4. Expert ability to read and critique steel erection and construction drawings.

  5. Advanced knowledge of industry-specific software (e.g., Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or MS Project/Primavera).

  6. Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities. Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

  7. Deep understanding of health and safety regulations (OSHA) and building industry standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the planning and implementation of large-scale steel projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.

  2. Interpret complex structural and erection drawings ($GA$ and shop drawings) to provide technical guidance and ensure fabrication accuracy.

  3. Supervise a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, fabricators, and site supervisors; foster a culture of safety and high-quality workmanship.

  4. Manage project P&L, monitor cash flow, negotiate with subcontractors, and handle contract variations and claims.

  5. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and consultants, ensuring clear communication and maintaining long-term partnerships.

  6. Ensure all works comply with local and international regulatory standards (e.g., Eurocodes, British Standards, or Kenyan Building Codes) and internal Quality Assurance (QA/QC) protocols.

  7. Provide high-level progress reports to the Directors, utilizing data-driven insights to forecast potential risks or delays.
