Work at this level entails provision of medical services to patients and clients in the institution health centre and make follow-up of cases of patients referred to the hospital. In addition, provides staff development and capacity building both formal and informal to other health personnel working under him/her and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.
Job Requirements for Appointment
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- At least two (2) years post internship work experience with proven performance
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge of Information Communication Technology
- Current practicing Certificate

Job Description
- Clerk and investigate common ailments of patients by requesting for laboratory tests;
- Participate in development of department policies and work plans to guide smooth delivery of health services;
- Conduct minor surgical procedure for patients;
- Participation in continuous medical education through seminars within and outside the university for emerging diseases and medications;
- Prepare departmental work plans for smooth delivery of health services;
- Provide counselling services to patients and clients with health challenges;
- Analyze the results from the laboratory and give appropriate diagnosis and treatment of common ailments
- Participate in preparation of financial year departmental budget to ensure the department is running under the financial year budgetary allocation
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by a senior officer.
