The expertise of a counselling psychologist is sought for the implementation and successful delivery of wholistic patient care for Lifeway House clients. The counselling psychologist will work collaboratively with the clinical team, support staff and management and will ensure clients receive excellent service in a professional and caring environment.
The expertise of a counselling psychologist is sought for the implementation and successful delivery of wholistic patient care for Lifeway House clients. The counselling psychologist will work collaboratively with the clinical team, support staff and management and will ensure clients receive excellent service in a professional and caring environment.
Conduct initial assessments to determine placement in appropriate programs offered at Lifeway House. Work closely with clients/patients to engage them in decision-making processes and help them understand the benefits of accessing the appropriate level of care.
Develop and implement individual counselling and intervention programs to assist clients/patients in determining goals and means of attaining them
Counsel clients/patients, provide therapy and facilitate sessions to support the individual recovery process. Develop and facilitate psycho-educational and psycho-dynamic sessions to patients in individual or group formats
Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and movement toward defined objectives.
Directly and continuously monitor and contribute to the improvement of services and methodologies utilized in Lifeway House programs
Support patient’s discharge planning, facilitate patients’ aftercare program and coordinate outpatient counselling and follow-up
Provide consultation to referral resources, family members and others to help support clients/patients in their recovery
Treat patients, visitors and colleagues with dignity and respect and respect all individuals’ differences
Honor and maintain the patient and colleague confidentiality agreements at Lifeway House, and at all times, provide effective patient care and meet all regulatory compliances.
Higher Diploma in Counselling Psychology
Additional SAPTA certification in Addictions Counselling
Two/three-year experience in provision of counselling services, with engagement in administrative duties preferred.
Demonstrated competence in clinical skills, including assessments and counseling interventions
Strong leadership, problem solving, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
Advanced level of communication (verbal and written) and facilitation skills
A self-starter that shows initiative, with the ability to prioritise and organise workflow effectively in a team and with minimum supervision.
