Accounts Assistant (4 months Fixed Term Contract)
Description
This role supports the Finance Operations team by managing high-volume financial transactions in a technology-driven environment. Responsibilities include resolving unallocated premiums, performing reconciliations, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and internal controls to facilitate smooth business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations and promptly address any discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve unallocated receipts, suspense accounts, and other transaction exceptions within set deadlines.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation for assigned accounts.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, ensuring accurate expensing of prepaid schedules.
- Process approved claims and operational payments in line with delegated authority and internal controls.
- Manage and monitor staff travel advances, ensuring timely accounting and recovery of outstanding amounts.
- Coordinate with banks to provide bid bonds and performance guarantees as requested by Business Development teams.
- Contribute to Finance Operations process improvements and automation initiatives, along with other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of one year experience in a similar finance role.
- CPA Part 1 qualification.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Proficiency in financial accounting, account analysis, and reconciliation.
- Highly analytical with the ability to challenge existing processes based on quantitative data and impact assessment.
- Competent in report writing and development.
