Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
  • MMed in Internal Medicine from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
  • Fellowship/sub-specialty training in Neurology recognized by KMPDC.
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
  • Retention in the KMPDC register.
  • Valid Practice License from KMPDC.
  • Valid Indemnity Cover.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010


Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and manage epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, headaches, demyelinating and neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Interpret EEG, EMG/NCS, and neuroimaging; coordinate additional diagnostics where required.
  • Provide inpatient consults, acute neurology input, and outpatient clinics.
  • Develop individualized treatment and secondary prevention plans.
  • Collaborate with neurosurgery, rehabilitation, psychiatry, and internal medicine as needed.
  • Participate in guideline development, audits, and quality improvement.
  • Teach and mentor trainees in adult neurology.
  • Engage in research and registries in neurological disorders.
