The Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) and the project consortium are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to serve as County Conservancies Coordinator – Turkana County.
The successful candidate will support the growth and sustainability of community conservancies by strengthening governance, promoting sustainable natural resource management, and enhancing livelihoods across the region.
This role will be central to:
Coordinating conservancy operations
Strengthening partnerships with government and stakeholders
Promoting inclusive leadership and decision-making
Supporting conservation-linked enterprises and livelihoods
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field
At least 5 years’ experience working with diverse communities
Strong understanding of conservation, natural resource management, and community development
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
Responsibilities
Coordinate implementation of conservancy activities and programs
Support governance structures, including boards and community forums
Build the capacity of conservancy leadership, staff, women, and youth
Guide the development of conservation and community development plans
Promote community engagement and awareness of conservation benefits
Support enterprise development (e.g. tourism, livestock, natural products)
Strengthen communication and feedback between conservancies and communities
Support monitoring, reporting, and program implementation
