Qualification

To qualify for appointment a candidate must:

  • Hold an earned PhD degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Be at least at the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent in a recognized university or institution of higher learning.
  • Demonstrate a strong record of teaching, research, and academic supervision in the relevant field.
  • Have experience in examination moderation, curriculum development, and quality assurance processes.
  • Be registered with the relevant professional body where applicable.
  • Not be a current member of staff of Mount Kenya University.

Key responsibilities also include

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Moderate examination papers and marking schemes before administration.
  • Review and moderate marked examination scripts, projects, dissertations, theses and other assessments as applicable.
  • Evaluate the academic standards of programmes and assessments against national and international benchmarks.
  • Provide independent reports on the quality and standards of academic programmes.
  • Advise the University on curriculum development, assessment practices, and academic quality enhancement.
  • Attend examination boards and academic meetings when invited by the University.
  • Submit annual reports on the conduct and standards of examinations and academic programmes.
