HR Manager (Supermarkets - Kenya)
Description
- The HR Manager - Supermarkets will lead the people strategy across all supermarkets in the region, ensuring the attraction, development, engagement and retention of talent while fostering a high-performance culture. The role is responsible for partnering with business leaders to drive workforce effectiveness, employee experience, organisational capability and compliance with labour laws and company policies.
ROLE PROFILE
- Partner with branch and business leadership to translate business objectives into people strategies that drive operational effectiveness, productivity and employee performance.
- Lead workforce planning, manpower optimisation and deployment across branches, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, productivity and effective utilisation of resources.
- Provide strategic guidance on employee relations, disciplinary and grievance matters, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant people practices in line with Kenyan labour legislation.
- Drive the performance management cycle across the business, supporting with objective setting, performance reviews and accountability.
- Develop and implement initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, employee experience, culture and retention, using people insights to address key engagement and turnover drivers.
- Support the business on people leadership, team effectiveness, succession readiness and building high-performing teams.
- Partner with leadership on organisational changes, new store openings, process improvements and other transformation initiatives, ensuring effective people transition and adoption.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures while using HR data and insights on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, productivity and employee trends to support informed business decisions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administrationor a related field.
- Professional HR qualification such as CHRP-K, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or equivalent.
- Membership of a recognised HR professional bod, such as IHRM is an added advantage.
- A Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is an added advantage.
- 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a large, multi-site, high-volume retail, FMCG, hospitality or similarly operational environment
- Strong experience managing employee relations, performance, labour compliance and workforce productivity.
