Description

As the central point of contact for the private sector, the Agency for Business and Economic Development (AWE), together with a global network of advisors, advises companies, business associations and social partners on cooperation and funding opportunities in development cooperation. In collaboration with private‑sector partners and bi‑ and multilateral programmes, AWE develops project ideas and brings them to implementation. In Kenya, AWE connects local market needs with German/EU private sector solutions in areas such as sustainable value chains, climate and resources, and sustainable energy.


Responsibilities
A. Responsibilities

The junior technical advisor is providing support in


  • Coordinating and managing of administrative processes

  • Providing technical support on cooperation with the private sector for the project and working in close collaboration with the DV towards the achievement of project goals

  • Support of the identification of cooperation potentials between “Cooperation with the private sector” instruments and the GIZ portfolio in Kenya

  • Further developing instruments and assisting in introducing innovation and change

  • Managing knowledge by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience and information

  • Programme internal and external communication and knowledge management


B. Tasks


The junior technical advisor shall perform the following tasks:


  • Organizes conferences, workshops, trainings for the project including management of logistics, preparation of the agenda, documents, and presentations, as well as writing of minutes

  • Support consultancies (development of concepts, ToRs, contracting of consultants, coaching and guiding consultants, quality checks of consultant reports) and procurement processes

  • Provide data, information and feedback for regular programme progress monitoring and reporting

  • Provides technical support (on instruments of private sector cooperation, e.g. DeveloPPP) in coordination with AWE experts

  • Prepares the documentation for contracts, services and/or purchases, complies with the regulations regarding accounting, contracts and purchases according to internal processes and rules (P&R)

  • Participates in the planning, execution and documentation of meetings, workshops, seminars and other events held within the framework of the project

  • Organizes and updates archives and documentation in compliance of GIZ knowledge management, manage, check and update the inventory of project office

Other duties/additional tasks


  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management



C. Required qualifications, competences and experience


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (business administration, Technical Education or other programme related discipline). Additional qualifications in the areas of development cooperation and/or private sector development;

  • Knowledge of private sector development, international trade and EU import/export regulations is an asset.


Professional experience:


  • At least 2 years of professional experience in private sector development. International trade, EU import/export regulations, ESG and finance are an asset;

  • Experience in project work and in the promotion of partnerships and networks with different stakeholders. Experience with the private sector are an asset.

  • Desirable: initial experience through internship or similar in this area


Other knowledge, additional competences:


  • Strong organizational and writing skills

  • Good interpersonal, management and communication skills

  • Knowledge of German language is an asset

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Data Management

  • Presentation skills

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure

  • Proactive attitude towards personal growth and institutional changes

  • Rendering result orientated performance

  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
