It is headquartered in Sri Lanka and has a proud heritage in operating plantation businesses in Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, and Kenya. Browns Plantations Kenya Limited is based in Kericho and Bomet counties. It has over 5000 Hectares of Tea and over 2000 Hectares of forestry.


We invite applications for the post of Manager, Contractor Management, which has arisen in our Central Services Division.


THE JOB

Reporting to the General Manager - Corporate Affairs, the job holder is responsible for managing company contractors effectively by ensuring that all certification standards, company policies, compliance requirements, and human rights due diligence are adhered to and consistently enforced.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 years’ experience in contractor/compliance management, of which 2 years are at the management level

  • Internal / External Audit experience will be an added advantage.

  • Computer literacy with knowledge of ERP and MS Office is essential.

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of labour laws, strong industrial relations, people skills and social ethical standards (Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance).

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good organising and planning skills

  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision

  • Proven strong supervisory, administrative, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure contractors comply with company policies, statutory requirements, certification standards, and mandatory training requirements.

  • Follow up on any noncompliance raised through external and internal audits and ensure closure within the provided timelines.

  • Carry out training need assessments and ensure all new and ongoing contractor employees are adequately inducted/trained to perform their roles and are aware of all safety requirements.

  • Generate accurate contractors’ activity monthly reports on performance, compliance, and contract costs from all business units and share accordingly for record and reference.

  • Coordinate with the unit managers in enforcing compliance by contractors and their employees.

  • Conduct regular contractor statutory compliance checks and provide a detailed monthly performance score for every contractor.

  • Maintain an accurate database on contractors and their employees.

  • In liaison with unit managers, ensure contractor employees are issued and use their Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Ensure contractors and their employees have been trained on Human Rights Due Diligence compliance and adherence.
