Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Ophthalmic Nursing, Ophthalmic Clinical Medicine, or related medical field from a recognized institution.
- Additional training or specialization in Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery will be an added advantage.
- Valid practicing license from the relevant regulatory body in Kenya.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council or relevant professional body where applicable.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience in ophthalmology services.
- Experience in cataract surgery and ophthalmic procedures will be an added advantage.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
- Strong patient management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Good organizational and reporting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, treat, and manage eye diseases and visual disorders.
- Perform cataract surgeries and other ophthalmic procedures.
- Conduct patient consultations, examinations, and follow-up care.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans.
- Manage ophthalmic emergencies and complications effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records and surgical reports.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
- Participate in medical outreach programs and eye screening activities.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical ethics, and Ministry of Health regulations.
