Part-Time Trainer in Maritime Security - Malindi Maritime Academy

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
   
2. Certified trainer with relevant maritime security credentials (e.g., STCW, ISPS, IMO certifications)
   
3. Strong knowledge of international maritime law and security protocols
   
4. Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable
   
5. Registered member of a relevant professional body in good standing will be an added advantage
   

Key responsibilities also include

Duties and responsibilities;

1. Develop and deliver maritime security training courses in line with ISPS Code and STCW requirements.
   
2. Design comprehensive maritime security training modules.
   
3. Conduct classroom and field-based instruction on ISPS Code compliance, Port facility security, Shipboard security operations, counter-piracy and anti-terrorism tactics, risk assessment, emergency response and risk mitigation among others.
   
4. Evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive feedback
   
5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime security trends, threats, and best practices
   
6. Assist in curriculum development and continuous improvement of training materials
   
7. Collaborate with stakeholders to tailor training to specific operational needs
