Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Nautical Science, Marine Navigation, or related field.
  2. Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (STCW II/1) or higher.
  3. Valid ECDIS certification and experience with ARPA & RADAR systems.
  4. Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable

Key responsibilities also include


Duties and responsibilities;

  1. Teach theoretical and practical aspects of ECDIS, ARPA, and RADAR systems.
  2. Conduct simulator-based training sessions and real-time scenario exercises.
  3. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW and Model Courses
  4. Guide students through certification requirements and operational competencies.
  5. Evaluate student performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  6. Support students in understanding integration of electronic navigation systems with bridge operations.
  7. Develop and update training modules to reflect current technologies and regulatory changes.
  8. Ensure integration of safety, situational awareness, and decision-making skills into the curriculum.
  9. Ensure training programs meet national and international maritime education standards.
  10. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
  11. Work with other trainers and technical staff to maintain and upgrade simulator equipment.
  12. Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development activities.
