Project Engineer
Description
We invite applications for the position of Project Engineer at our Kericho operation at Finlays Tea Extracts Kenya- Saosa Factory (also referred to as FTEK).
Job Overview
The Project Engineer will report to the Project Manager. S/he will assist the Project Management Office in supervising and inspecting project implementation activities by ensuring projects are executed in alignment with the applicable engineering standards, timelines, and budget. S/he will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and provide technical input during project planning, execution, and evaluation phases.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in any engineering-related field.
3-5 years of relevant experience as a Project Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial setting
Training in Project Management will be an added advantage.
Competencies and skills
Excellent knowledge of design and visualisation software such as AutoCAD
Advanced MS Office skills
Strong technical skills with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork abilities.
Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards
Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
Project management and supervision skills
Decision-making ability and leadership skills
Time management and organization skills
Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines involved in the project.
Schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all technical activities, aiming to assure project safety, accuracy, and quality from conception to completion.
Take on a hands-on approach to engineering tasks and be active at the worksite as the Project Manager’s eyes on the worksite. This might take staying on-site for more than 70% of assigned duties, to lead the planning, monitoring, and control of the execution stages of the project.
Identify, engage, and manage stakeholders whilst ensuring effective communication plans are in place and managed on an ongoing basis.
Review all the plans and status reports before the management meeting every 2 weeks.
Assist in preparing cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor
Lead the contract management scope of the implementation, and facilitate the contract validation with the Client & Contractor, supporting the Project Planner for Planning & Scheduling
Ensure project governance by preventing scope creep or gold plating activity in project execution.
Prepare and coordinate the development of the Shop Drawing and the As-built Drawing
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for the project manager and the stakeholders.
Assist the discipline engineers in inspecting the overall quality of work performed and ensuring Compliance with Applicable Codes, QA/QC policies, Standards, and Specifications.
Support Design Engineers and consultants with any technical issues and review and report summaries from bids for new projects.
Commit and comply with the Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence principles & policies by demonstrating and embedding the HREDD culture in the organization.
