Job Purpose:

The Scrum Master Manager will lead and develop a team of Scrum Masters, ensuring disciplined and consistent agile execution across squads within the Bank. This role is responsible for translating enterprise agile standards into effective day-to-day delivery practices.

The focus is on achieving predictable, high-quality delivery while maintaining strong governance, risk management, and continuous improvement aligned to the Bank’s digital transformation agenda.

Roles & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Agile Delivery Execution & Discipline:

  • Drive consistent application of agile practices across assigned squads in line with Bank standards.
  • Ensure effective sprint planning, backlog readiness, and structured execution of agile ceremonies.
  • Monitor and improve delivery metrics, including predictability, velocity, and cycle time.
  • Reinforce adherence to Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
  • Identify and resolve impediments impacting delivery timelines, quality, and outcomes.

Delivery Oversight, Risk & Control:

  • Ensure proactive risk identification, tracking, and timely escalation in line with governance frameworks.
  • Strengthen delivery predictability and commitment reliability across squads.
  • Support effective cross-squad coordination and dependency management.
  • Ensure alignment with internal controls, audit requirements, and delivery governance standards.

People Leadership & Capability Development:

  • Provide line management for Scrum Masters, including coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Build, mentor and develop high-performing Scrum Masters.
  • Coach leaders, teams and stakeholders on agile principles, flow thinking and delivery accountability.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership and transparency.

Continuous Improvement & Insights:

  • Leverage delivery data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and agile practice improvements.
  • Support implementation of improvement initiatives across squads in collaboration with other chapters.
  • Enable effective dependency management and cross-squad coordination.
  • Drive meaningful retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives at squad level.

Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment:

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Business stakeholders to support delivery success.
  • Ensure clear and structured communication on delivery progress, risks, and dependencies.
  • Support alignment of squad deliverables with business strategic priorities.
  • Challenge constructively, balance pragmatism with agile principles and influence without authority.

Academic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science or related field.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies/ Publication:

Agile Certification.

Work Experience Required:

  • Over Seven (7) years’ relevant experience in a similar role.

Core Competencies:

  • Proven experience leading, coaching, or mentoring Scrum Masters or delivery professionals.
  • Strong understanding of agile and flow-based delivery models.
  • Strong leadership and people management capability with a coaching mindset.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence across teams and functions without direct authority.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret delivery metrics and drive improvements.
  • Structured, disciplined, and detail-oriented approach to delivery execution.
  • Pragmatic and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance agility and control.
  • Proven experience operating in complex, regulated or enterprise environments.
