Job Summary

We are seeking skilled Security Analysts to support a cybersecurity initiative focused on analyzing and classifying application and system log data. In this role, you’ll review technical log messages and assess their security-related severity based on established criteria. Your expertise will contribute to the development of intelligent log triage and threat detection systems that help organizations detect and respond to potential security risks more effectively.

This is a flexible, remote, freelancing opportunity ideal for professionals with experience in security operations, system administration, or log management.

• Review and analyze application, system, and authentication logs for potential security issues.
  

• Classify log events into predefined security severity categories (e.g., informational, warning, suspicious, critical).
  

• Identify patterns, anomalies, or indicators of potential threats within log data.
  

• Ensure accuracy and consistency in log assessments across large datasets.
  

• Collaborate with security operations teams and project leads to resolve ambiguities and incorporate feedback.
  

• Stay up-to-date with evolving cybersecurity risks and adjust assessments based on updated threat classifications.
  

• Background in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, system administration, or software development.
  

• 3-4 years of professional experience in security operations, SOC analysis, log monitoring, or system administration.
  

• Familiarity with various types of logs (system, application, authentication) and their structure.
  

• Ability to read and interpret technical log messages and identify security-relevant patterns.
  

• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, such as threat detection, log management, and incident response.
  

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow structured assessment guidelines.
  

• Access to a laptop/desktop computer and a stable internet connection.
  

Nice to have:

• Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, Graylog) is an advantage.
  

• Familiarity with security triage processes or incident response workflows
