About Speedy Chui Africa

Speedy Chui Africa is a new national courier operator introducing Kenya’s first smart-locker delivery network. Our first operations are launching in Nairobi in 2025, with rapid expansion planned across Kenya by 2027–2028. Our goal is to provide secure, convenient, and reliable parcel deliveries while redefining last-mile logistics.

Role overview

The Sorting Centre Manager will lead the operations of our Nairobi sorting hub, ensuring parcels are received, scanned, sorted, and dispatched efficiently while maintaining accuracy, safety, and compliance. This leadership role is ideal for professionals with logistics experience, strong people management skills, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3–5 years of proven experience in courier, warehouse, or last-mile operations.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems, scanners, and digital logistics tools.

  • Certificate of Good Conduct required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all day-to-day parcel operations within the sorting centre, ensuring parcels are received, scanned, sorted, staged, and dispatched accurately and within set timelines.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine operational workflows to meet company service level agreements (SLAs) and customer expectations.

  • Lead and supervise a team of sorters, loaders, drivers, shift leaders, and support staff, providing clear direction and accountability.

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance, ensuring a skilled, motivated, and safety-conscious workforce.

  • Plan and manage staff schedules and shift rotations to balance workload and optimise productivity.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including CAK licensing and safety standards.

  • Monitor scanning accuracy, parcel integrity, and system records, ensuring discrepancies and errors are resolved promptly.

  • Track, analyse, and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including parcel throughput, turnaround times, and error rates.

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to senior management.

  • Implement quality control measures for handling fragile, restricted, or oversized parcels.

  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of sorting centre equipment, including scanners, conveyors, ramps, forklifts, trolleys, and IT systems.

  • Coordinate with customer service teams to resolve complaints and escalations relating to lost, delayed, or damaged shipments.

  • Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and organisation of the sorting centre, including warehouse layout, lighting, ventilation, and staff amenities.

  • Enforce health, safety, and environment (HSE) protocols, conducting regular safety briefings, drills, and risk assessments.

  • Investigate and document incidents such as damages, thefts, accidents, or security breaches, and implement corrective measures.

  • Ensure sufficient stock of operational consumables such as labels, tapes, packaging, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Oversee the use of logistics management systems (LMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and scanning technologies, ensuring data accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the ICT team to troubleshoot and resolve system issues, while recommending upgrades and automation where possible.

  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in sorting operations and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Drive cost-control measures while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.

  • Champion customer-centric practices, ensuring parcels are delivered accurately, safely, and on time to support brand reputation and customer trust.

  • Provide real-time updates on sorting centre performance and urgent issues to the Operations Manager and senior leadership.

  • Benchmark against global courier best practices and adopt innovative operational approaches where feasible.

  • Support the integration of sorting operations with smart-locker delivery networks and ERP systems.

  • Lead sustainability initiatives within the centre, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and eco-friendly practices.
